Romantic Poems to Impress Girls

Romantic Poems to Impress Girls

Girls dig love poems. You don’t need to be a Robert Frost to write cool love poems; in-fact the very beauty of a poem is in its originality. It’s quite tempting to take poems off some books or from the numerous love centric websites out there but a poetry which comes from your heart will convey more emotions than some copied verses.
Writing a love poem is easier that you think. It has to be around either one of these three themes:

  • About the girl who its written for.
  • About your love for her.
  • About the two of you together.

Tips For Writing A Love Poem

That’s all there is to love poem themes. Select one of them before proceeding to write the poem and stick to the theme. Use the following tips while writing the poem.
1. Describe what you like about her in simple words and then convert it to a rhyme.
2. Use metaphors, figures of speech which bring a romantic image to the mind.
3. Work with words like depth, sunshine, melody, glow – adjectives which communicate a sense of romance.
4. Create a sense of joy rather than sadness. Avoid words like darkness, gloom, lonely – other adjectives which convey a sense of loss.
5. Recount your time with her in the words of your poem.
6. Compare her to something soft and pretty like sunshine, rabbit, fur, rainbow, spring, petals – anything which brings an image of softness and purity in your mind.
7. Keep the poem short. Finish it off in 10 lines.

Metaphors Are Very Powerful.

They create an imagery in the mind of the reader. When you say something like, “Your hands feel soft like the touch of silk”, it immediately brings the picture of a soft silk like touch to the mind. This captures the attention and keeps the reader interested.
Avoid using pompous vocabulary, keep it simple. Use metaphors creatively, something you have never read before, don’t use clichéd metaphors like “wild rose beauty”. Below is a short example of how you can go about converting words to a poem through the use of metaphors.
She has beautiful brown eyes, soft dark hair and a very pretty smile. So here goes:
When I look into your eyes, I drown forever in your depths.
I love the way your lips curl a smile, it sends my heart racing.
The world fades when your soft hair touches my face.
You don’t need to make the poem rhyme, that would force you to use words which you’d rather not use. A poem need not rhyme, the crux of a love poem is the use of metaphors.
